2014 with its atmospheric mind-movie sound and its mysterious fantasy look. On “Nightfall Symphony”, The Dark Tenor once again fuses world-famous classical motifs from the works of
Richard Wagner ,
Giacomo Puccini ,
Georg Friedrich Händel ,
Giuseppe Verdi and others with self-composed pop music to create another example of how harmoniously old traditions and modern sounds can exist alongside and with one another.
“Nightfall Symphony” was written in the winter of 2015/16 in Berlin and Helsinki, Finland, and recorded in the spring of 2016 together with producer
Bernd Wendlandt
(Silvermoon,
Faun, Silly) in the Valicon Studios as well as in the studios in the Berlin Funkhaus Nalepastraße. Guests include the
Choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin as well as other members of his top-class ensemble of musicians, who provide the appropriate musical framework for the Dark Tenor's major themes: love, loss, suffering, but also hope and the prospect of redemption.
The sublime opener “ The Brave Never Die ” sets the tone with its combination of classical sounds, rock elements and vivid pop. The following “ Blindfold ” continues in a highly dramatic manner, on which the motif from Richard Wagner's “ The Ride of the Valkyries ” is embedded in gripping widescreen pop. “ Wild Horses ” is one of the poppiest pieces on the entire album. Dark emotions, but also confidence, determine the mood on the haunting “ Horizon – Somewhere I Belong ”, before the romantic and dreamy “ Afterglow ” describes the slow fading of a relationship.
Dark Tenor's second album "Nightfall Symphony" awaits you digitally for streaming and downloading as well as on a classic CD.
